School Mission Statement

The primary aim of the school to provide public school education to boys coming from rural areas and to prepare them for entry into the National Defence Academy. Special emphasis on activities directed towards character building and leadership qualities is given.

School Background The idea of establishing a chain of Sainik Schools in the country was conceived by late Shri V.K. Menon, the then Union Minister of Defence, in the year 1961. Sainik School , Satara has got the distinction of being the first among the series of Sainik Schools established in the country. It was on 23rd June, 1961 that this school was inaugurated by Shri Krishna Menon. The function was presided over by Shri Y.B Chavan, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
