To prepare boys academically, physically, and mentally for entry into the Naional Defence Academy. To remove regional imbalance in the officer cadre of the Defence Services. To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable the boys to become good and useful citizens of tomorrow.

School Background The representation of the State in the officer cadre of the Defence Forces has been comparatively very little. To rectify the regional imbalance of this cadre, the planning Commission cleared the scheme of establishment of a Sainik School in Himachal Pradesh in 1972-73. After a long period of time, it saw light in 1978 and was inagurated by the then President of India, His Excellency, Shri Neelam Sanjiva Reddy.
